Tree lighting set for Tuesday at State Capitol

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The State Capitol will officially welcome in the Christmas season Tuesday night with the lighting of the Christmas tree.

Governor Earl Ray Tomblin and First Lady Joanne Jaeger Tomblin will take part in the annual Joyful Night celebration and tree lighting ceremony on the Capitol Complex.

The evening’s program and reception will honor the state’s first responders, military members, their families and veterans.

The celebration is free and open to the public and everyone is encouraged to bring a new unwrapped toy for the U.S. Marines’ Toys for Tots campaign.

The event is scheduled to begin in the North Plaza at 6 p.m.
