Clarksburg man sentenced to prison on federal drug and firearm charges

CLARKSBURG, W. Va. — A Harrison County man will be incarcerated for 5 and a half years after pleading guilty to federal drug and firearm charges.

Joseph Scott Green, 46, of Clarksburg, was sentenced to 66 months in prison for drug trafficking and a firearm offense.

During a December 2012 traffic stop, Green, also known as “Scotty,” was discovered in possession of bath salts and a loaded 12 gauge shotgun.

He pleaded guilty in November 2014 to one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Controlled Substance Analogue, and one count of Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime. He was sentenced to sixty months in prison for the firearm offense and six months in prison for the drug trafficking offense.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn Morgan prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the Greater Harrison County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force led the investigation.

U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided.
