Second body found in Ohio River

STEUBENVILLE, Oh. — Authorities have pulled a second body from the Ohio River in West Virginia’s northern panhandle in as many days.

The latest discovery came Friday when a body was noticed on the Ohio shoreline under the Market Street Bridge in Steubenville. Both Ohio and Brooke County, West Virginia authorities responded to the discovery.

Police have not indicated the age or sex of the victim nor whether foul play is suspected in their death. They have sent the body to the state Medical Examiner in Charleston in hopes of getting some of those answers.

The discovery came less than 24 hours after a man’s body was pulled from the Ohio River further downstream along the banks of Wheeling Island.

Authorities have not indicated if they believe there is a connection between the two bodies.
