Police identify victims in fatal interstate crash in Monongalia County

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Police have released the identities of the victims of Friday night’s fatal accident on Interstate 68 in Monongalia County.

Christopher R. McClure, 28 of Fairmont, was traveling the wrong way on I-68 in a 2007 Ford Explorer when it side-swiped one vehicle and hit another head-on, according to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office.

McClure died at the scene.

Adrianna M. Cole, 20 of Morgantown, was headed east when her 2015 Subaru was struck head-on by the McClure’s vehicle. Cole also died at the scene.

A third victim, Charles A. Custer, 25 of Morgantown, was treated and released from a local hospital. His 2011 Volkswagen Jetta was also hit by McClure’s vehicle.

That crash happened at 10:35 p.m. Friday between the Sabraton and University Avenue exits. It closed eastbound and westbound lanes of I-68 for at least four hours overnight.

The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have information regarding the accident to call 304-291-7260.
