Former Michigan offensive line coach Darrell Funk visited Buccigrossi at North Hills High School last November and said the Wolverines planned to recruit him, though plans may have changed after Brady Hoke’s staff was replaced by Jim Harbaugh and Co.
Buccigrossi plays offensive tackle currently—along with doubling as a defensive linemen—and is projected as a guard at the college level, said Rivals recruiting writer Keenan Cummings of WVSports.com.
West Virginia has nine commitments for 2016, with Buccigrossi expected to be the first of several offensive lineman. (WVU signed four last February and six in 2014, one of whom, Dontae Angus, has moved to defensive line.)
The Mountaineers also remain heavily invested in pursuing four-star prospect Josh Ball of Fredericksburg, Va., who plans to announce his commitment Friday at the Rivals Five-Star Challenge in Baltimore.
