USA TODAY High School Sports announced its 2015 American Family Insurance ALL-USA West Virginia Football Team. Players were selected based on their athletic achievements from the 2015 season.
COACH OF THE YEAR: Chris Daugherty, Wheeling Park (Wheeling)
Entering the season, Wheeling Park had never won a state championship and hadn’t even been to a state title game since 1991. The Patriots made it to the Class AAA final this fall, and they went ahead and won it all with a 23-15 win over Capital. Over the final 10 games of the season, Wheeling Park scored 35 points or more eight times and didn’t allow an opponent to score more than 16.
OFFENSE
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Elijah Bell, Wheeling Park (Wheeling)
Bell was a major offensive lightning rod for the Patriots on offense, racking up 50 receptions for 1,214 yards and 17 touchdowns. He had four grabs for 72 yards and a score in Wheeling Park’s 23-15 victory over Capital in the Class AAA title game.
