Man dies after being shot by police in Walmart parking lot

White Hall, W.Va. — A man who allegedly tried to run over police with his car was shot and killed Sunday afternoon outside the White Hall Walmart near Fairmont.

State police confirmed it was investigating the shooting that happened at around 4 p.m. when two police officers from different agencies attempted to serve outstanding warrants on the man.

Customers in the Walmart were told to move to the back of the store shortly after the shooting, and the store was placed on lockdown for a brief period.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies were in the store for a Christmas “Shop with a Cop “event when the ‘shots fired’ call came in from the parking lot. Deputies ran outside.

The names of those involved were not released Sunday.
