Not much was left of the house where a fire claimed 3 lives.

GASSAWAY, W.Va. — Authorities recovered three bodies from a Braxton County home Thursday after the residence caught on fire.

Crews worked throughout the day on putting out the fire on state Route 4 near Gassaway. Authorities said the fire began around 7:30 a.m.

The state Fire Marshal’s Office said it believes all three victims were adult.

Two people were injured. Neighbors helped the victims escape the structure. One of the individuals were taken to a burn treatment center in Pittsburgh. Two previously unaccounted family members were found Thursday evening.

The fire damaged power lines in the area, affecting 1,000 people who are not able to place telephone calls. In case of an emergency, they are asked to go to the Frametown Fire Department.

It is not known what caused the fire.
