UPDATE 8:30 a.m. Friday Frontier says damage was repaired early Friday morning and services were restored.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Frontier Communications fiber-optic cable was damaged by a third-party contractor working along MacCorkle Avenue in Charleston Thursday afternoon, Frontier Communications said.
The damage could be impacting internet and telephone service to Frontier customers in Barboursville, Beckley, Charleston, Huntington, Kanawha City, Logan, South Charleston and St. Albans.
The contractor, who was not associated with Frontier, was digging along the road between the University of Charleston and the TransCanada building.
Frontier said it crews “were immediately dispatched and are working diligently to repair the damage. Frontier is coordinating with safety officials and will provide updates on repairs. We thank our customers and the communities we serve for their patience as our team works to restore service as quickly as safely possible.”
