Former hospital analyst sentenced for 3 months

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Mason County man will spend up to three months in prison after embezzling more than $48,000 from the Pleasant Valley Hospital.

Kevin Durst, 62, of Point Pleasant, previously served as a financial analyst at the facility. According to U.S. Attorney Mike Stuart, Durst was able to initiate wire transfers on certain accounts, and he wrote checks to benefit himself and his family’s private cemetery.

The embezzlement occurred between July 20, 2016, and Aug. 22, 2016.

Durst also admitted to transferring funds to a dormant account for his personal use.

Durst will also be responsible for paying restitution of $48,782.86 to the hospital.
