Man drowns in Summersville Lake

SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. — A Greenbrier County man drowned in Summersville Lake Friday night, authorities said.

Colin Wayne Harris, 24, of Ronceverte, was jumping off some high rocks near the Hughes Bridge area at around 8 p.m. when he went under and did not resurface, Nicholas County Sheriff William Nunley said.

Emergency crews recovered the body.

It was the second drowning death recorded in the state Friday. The first one happened at around 7 a.m. in the New River at the McCreery boat launch near the Raleigh County community of Terry. The National Park Service said a 16-year-old boy drowned after being caught in a current.
