Mountain Health Network agrees to purchase naming rights to Huntington arena

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Huntington civic arena has a new name.

The city announced on Wednesday that Mountain Health Network has purchased naming rights as part of a $1.75 million/10-year deal. The facility will be called Mountain Health Arena if the deal is approved.

“Mountain Health Arena will present a unique branding opportunity for our community. The naming rights will remind consumers throughout the Ohio River Valley and beyond that Huntington is a city that has become a regional medical center and is also a city that provides a dynamic environment for entertainment,” Huntington Mayor Steve Williams said.

The Huntington City Council will have to approve the contract during a special meeting scheduled for Thursday at 5 p.m.

The facility was most recently known as Big Sandy Superstore Arena. The deal expired in 2018.
