Gyorko Name All-Star Game MVP

Jedd Gyorko went 2-for-4 with two RBI to help the California League All-Stars to a 6-1 victory over the Carolina League All-Stars Tuesday night in Modesto, California.

Gyorko got the key hit to spark a four run third inning for the Cal League. He would later added an RBI hit in the 5th. Gyorko also started a double play on defense getting the Cal League out of a fifth inning jam as the Carolina league had two runners on with one out.

Gyorko was named the Cal League’s MVP for the game as he started at third base and played the entire contest.

Gyorko was named to the team a few weeks back as he put up brilliant first half numbers. The former WVU standout leads the Advanced-A California League in runs scored (66), hits (110) and doubles (31), is second in hitting (.387) and is tied for third in home runs (15). Plus, he has 11 stolen bases.

The next step for Gyorko would be a promotion by the San Diego organization to the AA level at San Antonio, Texas.
