West Virginia University’s Mountaineers may need some snow pants for Saturday’s New Era Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium in New York City.
“Things get interesting on Saturday,” WABC-TV Channel 7 Meteorologist Jeff Smith said on Thursday’s MetroNews Talkline of the possible Game Day weather.
He says it will be cloudy and cold when WVU takes the field to face Syracuse University on Saturday afternoon in the Bronx. Kickoff is set for 3:15 p.m.
“Some snow is likely, especially from midday on and there’s even the potential for a few inches of accumulation, depending on how much this storm intensifies as it moves up the Atlantic seaboard,” Smith said.
Smith says high temperatures will be in the 30s on Saturday and are expected to drop throughout the game.
“It could make for some interesting football,” said Smith who got his start in television meteorology at WOAY-TV in Oak Hill. He has worked in New York for the past six years.
