Sink hole slows Nitro traffic

Motorists travelling through Nitro today will find slow going.   Crews from the DOH and West Virginia American Water are on the scene of a sink hole which developed in the east bound lane of Route 25 early this morning.   It happened near Twin City Bible Church.

Nitro Police say the water main broke and washed away the soil beneath the roadway, causing it to sink.  Eventually the pavement fell through.

Traffic was diverted off the road out of fear it could collapse under the weight of a car.    Traffic for the time being is down to one lane alternating in either direction as work to repair the hole is underway.
