One dead, one charged in Greenbrier Co. shooting

An argument in a rural Greenbrier County community leaves one dead and one in custody .

Sheriff Jan Cahill says deputies were called to a home in the Alta Mobile Home village around 7:30 Tuesday night for a shooting.  When they arrived they discovered Anthony Ramsey, 51, standing in the yard who claimed he shot an individual inside the home.

Deputies found Brian Meadows, 25 of Alta dead of a single gunshot wound.

Cahill says the two men had been in a verbal argument which escalated to gunfire.  He did not know what started the fight.

Ramsey is lodged in the Southern Regional Jail in Beckley awaiting a preliminary hearing and charged with first degree murder.
