Former Ripley city police officer facing child pornography charges

A former Ripley city police officer has been indicted on federal child pornography charges.

George Michael Puskas II was indicted this week on three federal counts alleging he coerced a minor into posing for pornographic pictures, receiving child pornography and having child pornography on his personal computer.

According to court documents, between December 2010 and January 2011 Puskas forced the minor girl into engaging in sexual acts. The other two counts are from January 2011 and April of 2012.

The alleged victim told police she and Puskas got into a romantic relationship when she was 14, but it ended in April 2011. The victim said she first met Puskas when she was 6 or 7 years old, while Puskas was coaching soccer.

An investigation began back in April after the alleged victim told police Puskas threatened to kill her and himself if she dated anyone else.

Puskas resigned from the Ripley Police Department last May 2012 while the investigation was underway.

An arraignment and detention hearing for Puskas is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday.
