Marshall Head Coach Doc Holliday has been busy this month filling holes on his coaching staff. Now, Holliday has another vacancy to advertise. Sources have confirmed strength and conditioning coach Joe Miday has left the staff to take a job at Western Kentucky.
Miday had spent six seasons on The Herd’s staff making him the second longest tenured coach next to longtime fixture Mark Gale. His career at Marshall started in 2007 when he joined the staff under a newly created graduate assistant position under then-strength and conditioning coach Mike Cochran. Miday was named head of the strength and conditioning program in February 2012.
Miday is the latest assistant to leave the Marshall coaching staff this offseason.
Defensive coordinator Chris Rippon was the first to go back in December when he tendered his resignation following a dreadful performance in 2012. Quarterbacks Coach Tony Petersen took an opportunity to run the offense at Louisiana Tech under new head coach Skip Holtz. Petersen will get the chance to call plays for the first time in his career. Lytrell Pollard also moved go, going back to his alma mater, Southern Miss, to coach the linebackers there.
