The founder and executive director of a St. Albans-based in-home care business is heading to prison for conspiracy.
Shida S. Jamie, 63, was sentenced Thursday in federal court to 46 months in federal prison for altering and falsifying company records and documents in or around August or early September 2009.
She plead guilty to the charges back in October of last year.
Jamie, owner of Golden Heart In Home Care, LLC, admitted to directing office staff to place newly created and altered documents into personnel files that contained missing training documents.
She also admitted to scheming with other employees to falsify signatures on training documents to make it appear as if caregivers had received training in compliance with the personal care program guidelines.
The conspiracy was brought to light after the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources Medicaid Fraud Control Unit began investigating questionable activity within Golden Heart, despite Jamie’s attempts to cover it up.
Golden Heart specializes in providing in-home care services to the elderly and disabled under a contract with Putnam Aging Inc., an authorized West Virginia Medicaid provider.
