CHARLESTON, W. Va. — Police in Charleston are looking for two juveniles who ran off with jewelry after a break-in at a Patrick Street Kmart early Wednesday morning.
Sgt. Tony Hazelett of the Charleston Police Department said the video surveillance showed two young males who took a shopping cart to smash their way into the front window of the store at around 2:30 a.m.
After they shattered the window, an unknown tool was used to break into the glass at a jewelry counter. Hazelett said the suspects fled the scene on foot towards the railroad tracks and dropped some jewelry in the process.
“Shortly after the incident occurred we were contacted. The two young juvenile males were trying to sell jewelry around the Littlepage (Terrace) housing complex. We responded there, but did not locate them,” said Hazelett.
The juveniles were last seen wearing hooded sweatshirts. Police are viewing video surveillance from the Kmart, the Littlepage complex in Charleston, and surrounding businesses to identify the suspects.
