CLARKSBURG, W. Va. — The final regularly scheduled status hearing for a man accused in a Harrison County quadruple homicide back in 2013 took place Monday morning.
Sidney Arthur Muller, 29, appeared by video from North Central Regional Jail before Harrison County Circuit Judge Thomas Bedell in preparation of the pretrial hearing and start to his trial.
Muller is accused of killing Christoper Hart and Todd Amos at a home on Locust Ave. in Clarksburg during July 2013, while allegedly trying to collect a $10,000 debt for pills he had provided.
He then allegedly shot and killed Freddy and Fred Swiger, a father and son who were delivering newspapers on their normal route, outside of the home when they came to the scene.
After the trial had been pushed back several times, Judge Bedel ordered weekly status updates leading up to the August trail date.
On Monday, the state, represented by Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Susan Morris, informed the court they plan to potentially utilize 91 witnesses to testify against Muller.
Most of these witnesses are members of various law enforcement agencies in several counties.
When asked by the defense is that many witnesses would push the trail past its anticipated two weeks, Morris said she does not expect such and extension as most testimony “may be short to fill in gaps of information.”
The final pretrial hearing is scheduled for July 31, while the trail is scheduled to begin on August 17.
