BECKLEY, W.Va. — A man jumped to his death off an Interstate 64 bridge in Raleigh County on Thursday, authorities said.
Ski Warren Thomas, age and hometown unknown, jumped off the Glade Creek bridge at the Eisenhower Drive exit in Beckley around 11:30 a.m., according to sheriff’s deputies.
The deputies and National Park Service Ranger Randy Fisher responded to the scene when a second man was on the bridge’s catwalk saying he planned to jump too.
Fisher spent six hours convincing Burgin Towe, of Jenks, Okla., not to jump. Towe was taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to reports.
