MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — South Charleston High School guard Brandon Knapper signed with West Virginia on Thursday, though sources confirmed he still intends to spend a year at prep school before reclassifying for 2017.
The 6-foot-1 Knapper, beginning his senior season at South Charleston, is aiming to become a three-time Class AAA all-state player.
He averaged 23.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 3.8 steals per game last year after posting 18.9 points and 5.2 assists as a sophomore. South Charleston has compiled a 43-5 record the past two seasons.
“Brandon brings us another tough, skilled point guard,” said West Virginia coach Huggins. “He has the ability to lead a team from the point guard position as well as effectively score the ball. He will be coming here well-schooled in our kind of basketball, having played for former Mountaineer Vic Herbert.”
