Amid Hafley, 23, is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and driving under the influence causing the death of Caleb Conner, 24, of Falling Waters.

The hearing was rescheduled for Aug. 31 after Hafley’s defense attorney said he had a scheduling conflict and could not proceed with a hearing.

The crash happened shortly before 5:00 p.m. June 16 in the southbound lanes of I-81 about a mile and a half north of Exit 16.

Police said Hafley indicated he had smoked a “dime” of marijuana about 35 minutes before officers arrived to investigate the crash and that he smoked the drug in a blunt.

The car that Hafley was driving collided with the side of a tractor-trailer and spun out of control.

Vehicles approaching the accident then slowed down, which caused more collisions involving two tractor-trailers and 14 passenger vehicles.
