Bridgeport Little League team falls to Tennessee; plays elimination game Tuesday

WARNER ROBBINS, Ga. — The Bridgeport Little League All-Stars will have one last chance Tuesday to keep their Little League World Series hopes alive after a narrow defeat Monday night.

The team from Goodlettsville, Tenn. beat Bridgeport 5-4 in Southeast regional play to earn a trip to Wednesday’s Southeast regional championship game.

The loss sends Bridgeport to an elimination game Tuesday afternoon against Peachtree City, Ga. The winner will play Goodlettsville again on Wednesday afternoon for a spot in the LLWS in Williamsport, Pa.

Christopher Harbert hit a two-run homer in the 5th inning Monday night to give Bridgeport a 4-3 lead, but the Tennessee team scored two runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good.

A West Virginia team has not made the LLWS since Fairmont in 1951.
