Man killed in Fayette County crash

GAULEY BRIDGE, W.Va. — A Fayette County man has died following an accident late Tuesday night.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department announced they were dispatched to West Virginia Route 16/39 at around 11 for an accident. They found Charles Hagan, 40 of Gauley Bridge, lying in the roadway.

Deputies say the vehicle ran off of the road and struck an embankment, causing it to rollover. Hagan was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the accident is still unclear. Gauley Bridge and Smithers Police Departments assisted with the call.

Fayette County Deputy First Class L.A. Clay is leading the investigation.
