Troopers look for person of interest in Clay homicide investigation

WALLBACK, W.Va. — State Police have a person of interest in a homicide investigation out of Clay County.

Capt. David Lemon told reporters in Friday press conference in Kanawha County that troopers are looking for Joshua Robertson, 44, is wanted for questioning after his father’s body was found inside a Wallback home.

Troopers discovered the body of Milton Robertson, 67, at a home on Left Fork Sandy Road at around 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Lemon said they believe Milton Robertson was shot and stabbed to death.

“Further investigation by the State Police as well as the Medical Examiner’s Office revealed that the subject suffered from a gunshot wound as well as knife wounds,” he said.

There are no warrents for Joshua Robertson, but Lemon said they want to speak to him about the case. Troopers are calling it a murder investigation.

“The son, Joshua Robertson, is who we’d like to speak with,” Lemon said. “Our understanding is he’s possibly operating a brown or tan Hyundai Santa Fe with possible West Virginia registration 9VS728.”

Joshua Robertson may have ties to the state of Alabama, Lemon said. Trooper plan to contact out-of-state police.

“Our West Virginia Intelligence Exchange Program will take this type of information and will push that out to other law enforcement agencies as well as outside the state,” he said.

A motive in the case has not been released.

“Everything is very prliminary. Troopers are out contacting some immidiate family today,” Lemon said.
