Body found in Fayette County thought to be missing person

SPRINGDALE, W.Va. — A body discovered Tuesday afternoon by West Virginia State Police has been sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for further evaluation.

Troopers said it was found near Irish Mountain Road in the Spring Dale area. The identity of the body has yet to be released.

Troopers believe it is the body of a person who was previously reported missing.

The Rainelle Detachment of West Virginia State Police is handling the investigation.
