WEST UNION, W.Va — Doddridge County completed their first perfect regular season since 1975 with a 62-0 win over Tygarts Valley.
The game was also the final regular season contest at Cline Stansberry Stadium. The Bulldogs will move to their new on-campus stadium next fall.
Playing without standout running back Hunter America, Doddridge jumped out to a 48-0 halftime lead on the strength of five second quarter touchdowns.
Senior quarterback Tanner Lett tossed three touchdown passes. Griffin Devericks reeled in two touchdown catches and he returned an interception for a score as well. Jeremy Owens scored three rushing touchdowns in the second quarter.
Reese Burnside and Simon James added third quarter touchdowns to complete the scoring.
Doddridge County (10-0) is projected as the #4 seed in the Class A playoffs and they will host #13 Webster County in the opening round.
Tygarts Valley (5-5) was eliminated from playoff contention but finished with their highest win total since advancing to the state semifinals in 2005.
