Doddridge holds off Meadow Bridge rally to win Class A IOGA title

GLENVILLE, W.Va. — Doddridge County held off a furious rally from Meadow Bridge to win the IOGA Class A championship, 60-55 at Glenville State College.

The Wildcats trailed by 16 points with four minutes to play but a 14-0 run pulled them within a basket with 20 seconds left. The Bulldogs however made three free throws in their next two possessions to seal the victory.

Tanner Lett scored 21 points to lead the Bulldogs. Collin Bunting added a dozen points.

Meadow Bridge’s Kobe Rozell led all scorers with 23 points while Jared Gladwell added 18.

The Wildcats led 23-21 at the half but the Bulldogs used a pair of second half runs to take a lead they would not relinquish. Doddridge closed the third quarter on a 19-6 burst to lead 43-34. The Bulldogs also scored twelve unanswered points in the fourth quarter to take their largest lead of the game at 16 points.

Doddridge (3-0) will host Calhoun County Tuesday while Meadow Bridge (1-1) host Richwood Wednesday.
