Balanced Polar Bears hold off GW, 73-63

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — In their first game since defeating Class AA state champion North Marion, Fairmont Senior posted another quality victory, 73-63 over George Washington.

Abby Faulkner led the Polar Bears with 21 points and freshman Marley Washenitz added 20. Senior Anysa Jordan was the third Polar Bear to score in double figures with 11 points.

Fairmont Senior took a lead they would not relinquish with a 14-2 run midway through the second quarter. The Polar Bears led 44-31 at the half and extended that cushion to a game-high 20 points late in the third quarter.

GW’s Kalissa Lacy led all scorers with 32 points. Katy Darnell added 21.

The Patriots (4-3) will conclude the BW3 Morgantown Classic Saturday vs. Martinsburg, while the Polar Bears (7-1) will meet Winfield.
