Man charged for murdering missing wife

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Nicholas County man has been charged with murder for the death of his wife, who has been missing for three years.

The Charleston Police Department announced on Wednesday the arrest of 40-year-old Arthur Owen Woods, of Mt. Nebo. He was arraigned in Nicholas County Magistrate Court.

Starina Woods went missing in March 2016. According to investigators at the time, Starina Woods voiced concerns about an abusive relationship with her husband. Authorities discovered blood stains at the couple’s home.

Arthur Woods never reported his wife missing or tried to contact her after she disappeared. He told police Starina left for Ecuador.

Arthur Woods was charged last year for using his spouse’s debit card until the bank froze the account. He was charged on Wednesday with first-degree murder.
