Death of Mercer County man in police custody under investigation

ODD, W.Va. — A Princeton man died while in custody, following a police pursuit last week.

According to West Virginia State Police, Michael Graham II, 42, and three other suspects were taken into custody, after a vehicle pursuit by state troopers that began on U.S. 460 in Mercer County and ended near Odd in Raleigh County, when the suspects exited the vehicle and were captured while fleeing on foot.

In a statement released Tuesday, investigators said Graham collapsed and lost consciousness, shortly after being arrested. Officers reportedly administered Narcan and performed CPR, but were unable to revive him.

The body was sent to the office of the state medical examiner for an autopsy.
