Week #10 – And Still A Lot of Important Games Left!

When play began last week in high school football across the state, we had 10 undefeated teams!  As we get set for action in week #10, we now have only eight teams without a blemish on their record!  Last Friday night, the Golden Tornado of Keyser fell from the unbeaten ranks as they dropped a 28-7 decision to Bridgeport, marking the 7th consecutive win by the Indians over Keyser.  Also in Class AA, the Man Hillbillies could get nothing going offensively and lost their first game of the season by a score of 7-0 to the Big Blacks of Point Pleasant!

So, now we head into week #10 with only eight teams still undefeated and we find of the 114 teams playing high school football, 18 of them will see the regular season end this weekend.  In Class AAA, the regular season ends this weekend for 5 teams….Hampshire (0-9), Martinsburg (9-0), Morgantown (2-7), Musselman (8-1) and University (3-6)!  In Class AA, the 2019 regular season will come to a close this weekend for 6 teams…..Independence (6-3), Oak Glen (9-0), Pikeview (1-8), River View (3-7), Shady Spring (8-1) and Weir (5-4).  In Class A, of the 41 teams that play high school football, 7 will wrap up the regular season this weekend.  They are, Cameron (6-3), Madonna (6-3), Moorefield (5-4), Parkersburg Catholic (5-4), Summers County (3-6), Tug Valley (5-3) and Williamstown (8-1).

Some important games as we head in the 10th week of the season include Capital (4-4) at Riverside (4-4)…….Huntington ((4-4) at Parkersburg (5-3)….Martinsburg (9-0) at Musselman (8-1)….Paul Blazer High School from Ashland, Ky. (8-1) at Spring Valley (7-1) and Parkersburg South (8-0) at Wheeling Park (6-2).  In Class AA some of the games we will be watching closely include…..Bluefield (7-1) at James Monroe (6-2)…..Wyoming East (6-2) at Independence (6-3)……Shady Spring (8-1) at Liberty Raleigh (4-4)….Man (7-1) at Tug Valley (5-3)….Mingo Central (6-2) at Chapmanville (5-3) and North Marion (6-2) at Robert C.
