WVU construction, renovations continue into winter

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Work continues at West Virginia University on a $176 million construction and renovation effort.

The university Board of Governors approved the projects in July, which include renovations at the Milan Puskar Center — such as updates to the home team locker room, player lounge, equipment room and recovery suite — as well as moving the Hall of Traditions to the front of the building. Crews are also renovating Hodges Hall.

Joe Patten, the university’s executive director of facilities planning and scheduling, said work on the locker room, lounge and office areas will be completed next August.

“They’re doing some inside demolition work which will be completed at the end of this month,” he added. “The brick facade is about 20% complete and the roof is about 40% complete.”

The work at Hodges Hall is expected to be finished in June 2021.

The demolition of Stansbury Hall is complete. Patten said crews are preparing the site for the new Reynolds Hall and the John Chambers College of Business and Economics.
