Rodney Nieman, 73, of Bruceton Mills, was lost when his boat capsized on Lake Erie near Conneaut, Ohio, on August 12. While Nieman’s wife and a friend were rescued, days turned into weeks searching for Nieman with no trace of him.

The U.S. Coast Guard searched 9 nautical square miles of the lake for Nieman. The Ohio DNR assisted as well.

A Cleveland television station received confirmation from the Ashtabula County Coroner’s Office that Nieman’s body was located on September 28 in Ashtabula along Walnut Beach. Ashtabula is approximately 15 miles from Conneaut.

It’s unclear what caused the boat to capsize.
