MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Morgantown city officials on Friday announced plans to hire Bridgeport’s former city manager for the open position in Morgantown.
Kim Haws worked for the city of Bridgeport for 20 years. He previously served as city manager in East Palestine, Ohio, and St. Johns, Arizona.
Morgantown leaders reviewed more than 100 applicants for the position.
“Kim rose to the top of an extremely competitive pool of applicants. He is a strong, experienced leader who will bring an open, collaborative, and proactive approach to the management of our city,” Morgantown Mayor Ron Dulaney Jr. said. “Kim understands the unique challenges and opportunities of municipalities in West Virginia. His experience with impactful economic development projects will help us realize our redevelopment and development opportunities downtown, along the riverfront, and at the airport.”
The Morgantown City Council will vote on the hiring at its Wednesday meeting.
Emily Muzzarelli has been interim city manager since May. She will assume her role as assistant city manager in December if the hiring is approved.
