Sikora gets nod as Monongalia County Commission president

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Commissioner Sean Sikora has been selected to serve as president of that elected body for 2021.

“We as a commission, when we appoint a president every year we always point out it doesn’t make any of us more important than the other,” Sikora said. “It just gives me more responsibility.”

A native of Weirton, Sikora was first elected to the commission in 2016. He has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master in Business Administration from WVU. He also holds professional certifications as a Project Management Professional and as a Certified Professional Contracts Manager.

He also serves on the Monongalia County Development Authority, Morgantown Municipal Airport Runway Extension Development Team, Morgantown Monongalia Metropolitan Planning Organization, Mason Dixon Historical Park Advisory Board, and the Mylan Park Board of Directors.

A Morgantown resident, he is married with two daughters.
