FAIRMONT, W.Va. — The Marion County area and many around the state are mourning the loss of a food icon.
According to the Marion County Convention & Visitor’s Bureau, Russell Yann, the owner, and proprietor of Yann’s Hotdog Stand in Fairmont has died.
“It is with great sadness that we share news of Russell Yann’s passing. Marion County has lost one of its most iconic figures. We are thinking of his family and friends at this time,” the Facebook post made Friday morning said.
The hot stand sold thousands of hot dogs along with bottles of chocolate milk annually for people all over the United States. The specialty was no ketchup but hot dogs with mustard, chili and onions. A public Facebook group called ‘Yann’s Hotdogs Appreciation Society’ has nearly 5,000 followers.
There was no immediate word on the cause of Yann’s death.
