MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Four West Virginia high school basketball standouts have earned nominations for the annual McDonald’s All-America Games. For the second year in a row, the games will not be played due to the pandemic. Full rosters will be named later this month and a virtual celebration for the selected players is being planned. 48 players will earn spots on the teams.
George Washington’s Mason Pinkett and Wheeling Central Catholic’s J.C. Maxwell have earned nominations.
Pinkett scored a team-best 17.3 points per game and led the Patriots to the Class AAA state tournament as a junior. Maxwell averaged 14 points and 6 boards and helped the Maroon Knights to a regional title.
Summers County teammates Taylor Isaac and Gavin Pivont have been nominated for the girls game. Isaac led the Bobcats in scoring last winter with 21.5 points per game. She has signed with Alderson Broaddus University. Pivont scored 17.6 points per game as the Bobcats qualified for the Class A state tournament.
