UPDATE The interstate was reopened early Friday morning.
FALLING WATERS, W.Va. — More than a dozen tractor trailers were reportedly involved in a pile up at the border of Maryland and West Virginia Thursday night in Berkeley County.
Scanner traffic indicated the accidents were called in just after 8 p.m.
Shutdowns began around the 25-mile marker northbound in Marlowe, which is right at the Potomac River bridge on the border of the two states.

Washington County MD Fire Calls reported communications among first responders and dispatchers indicated the roadway was a ‘sheet of ice’ and that the accidents involved multiple vehicles and entrapment.
As of 10:30, the Northbound lanes were still completely stalled according to WV511.
