CHARLESTON, W.Va. — For a time on Sunday and for the first time in weeks, a West Virginia was red, the highest level for coronavirus transmission, in COVID-19 reporting from the state Department of Health and Human Resources.
At the time of the 10 a.m. release from DHHR, Webster County was red based on both infection rate and percent positivity.
On Sunday afternoon, the county was moved to the lower orange level.
UPDATE: After further review of the cases included in today’s dashboard report, eight cases from Webster Co. were identified in which the specimen collection date was greater than 14 days. These cases were removed and the dashboard has been updated to reflect this change.

Other counties with one COVID case number measure in red included Cabell, Grant, Lincoln, Logan, Mingo and Nicholas.
On Sunday morning, West Virginia’s daily cumulative infection rate was at 3.48 percent while the cumulative rate was 5.33 percent, according to DHHR.
Eleven additional virus-related deaths were confirmed.
Those people were a Wyoming County woman, 87, a Logan County man, 74, a Brooke County woman, 65, a Kanawha County woman, 65, an Ohio County woman, 89, a Kanawha County man, 80, a Mercer County man, 84, a Raleigh County man, 75, a Marion County woman, 84, a Raleigh County woman, 54, and a Mercer County man, 74.
The total pandemic death toll was at 2,530.
Active COVID-19 cases, known cases, added up to 5,232 statewide on Sunday.
