MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — A mother and her two children are dead in Hardy County as a result of what police indicated was a double-murder suicide.
Moorefield Police Chief Steve Riggleman said in a press release his officers were dispatched to a home on Winchester Avenue in Moorefield around 6:40 p.m. Thursday after a report of gunfire at the home. Officers arrived to find the mother identified as Brandi Baker, 38, of Moorefield dead of a gunshot wound and two children who had also been shot. One youngster, 9-month old infant, was dead at the scene. The second child was rushed to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Police reported the second child died Friday morning.
The investigation into the incident continues, but police say evidence at the home indicates Baker shot the two children, then turned the gun on herself.
