West Virginia one of eight teams in field for Charleston Classic

West Virginia is one of eight teams in the field for the 2021 Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic, a tournament that will be held from November 18-21 at TD Arena in Charleston, S.C.

The Mountaineers will be joined by St. Bonaventure, Marquette, Clemson, Boise State, Ole Miss, Temple and Elon.

A total of 12 games will be played November 18, 19 and 21 with the two teams unbeaten in tournament play meeting for the chance to be tournament champion.

West Virginia did not play any of the other seven teams in the field last season. Along with the Mountaineers, St. Bonaventure and Clemson were NCAA Tournament qualifiers in 2021.

Marquette is now coached by former Texas coach Shaka Smart.

The Charleston Classic began in 2008 and was an annual event through 2019. Florida was the most recent champion.

Tickets will be available for purchase following the announcement of the complete tournament schedule later this summer. Until then, fans can secure up to $25 off each all-tournament ticket by signing up for the pre-sale at www.charlestonclassic.com.
