COVID cases climb in WV, no new deaths

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — State health officials say there have been no new deaths from COVID-19 in West Virginia, but there have been 244 new cases of the virus.

The latest numbers released Monday by the state Department of Health and Human Resources show there are 1,115 active cases, up by more than 80 since Friday.

Delta variant cases now stand at 22. About 49 percent of the state’s population over the age of 12 has been fully vaccinated.

There have been a total of 2,919 COVID-19 related deaths in West Virginia.

Hospitalizations had not been updated since Friday where there were 74.
