Marion County man is the latest COVID-19 death in W.Va.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Another West Virginian has died from COVID-19.

After a few days without any new deaths, the state Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed the death of a 64 year old Marion County man on Wednesday.

“We mourn the loss of this West Virginian and send our deepest sympathies to his loved ones,” said DHHR Cabinet Secretary Bill Crouch in a news release. “Vaccines are safe and effective, and if you are eligible, please do your part to end the pandemic by scheduling a COVID vaccine.”

There have been a total of 2,920 deaths across the state.

Active cases rose by 89 from Tuesday and currently stand at 1,187.

The state has recorded 22 Delta variant cases, which remained the same from previous reports.

Hospitalizations in West Virginia are up from 85 to 88, according to Wednesday’s numbers.
