Active COVID-19 cases below 8,300 after surpassing mark Saturday

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Active coronavirus cases in West Virginia have dipped below 8,300 after surpassing the mark on Saturday.

The state Department of Health and Human Resources on Sunday updated its statewide dashboard. Officials confirmed 8,276 active cases, a decrease from 8,389 cases on Saturday.

Officials did not confirm any additional deaths related to the pandemic.

According to the statewide agency, 850 West Virginians remain hospitalized with the coronavirus, in which 66.4% of patients are unvaccinated.
