Video: Fairmont Senior vs Shady Spring (2022 Class AAA Boy’s State Championship)
There were two lead changes in the final 25-seconds. The final lead change came as Fairmont Senior guard Zycheus Dobbs hit a running floater at the buzzer to defeat top-seed Shady Spring.
Dobbs finished the game with 15 points, eight assists, and six blocks.
The 60-59 Polar Bear victory over the Tigers marked the third Fairmont Senior state title since 2016.

Huntington’s state title victory marked the school’s first boy’s basketball championship since 1969. The game featured four players first or second team all-state players, including future Mountaineer 1,000-point scorer Marsalis Basey.
The 91-88 final score became the second-highest scoring Class AAA state final game at the time. Both the Bulldogs and Highlanders combined for 179 points. The ‘88 final is now the third highest-scoring Class AAA final. The highest scoring state final in AAA remains the 1977 game between Logan and Washington Irving.
