State WIC program partners with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to promote literacy

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children has announced a partnership with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

West Virginia children are eligible for the literacy program if they are additionally eligible for the nutrition program, which is also known as WIC.

Parton’s initiative provides free books to children to encourage early childhood literacy. A panel is responsible for proposing books. Participants from birth to 5 years old receive free books every month.

People can register for the Imagination Library at a WIC clinic or https://imaginationlibrary.com/check-availability/.
