Huntington Police investigating Monday night shooting

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A man was shot in the leg late Monday night in Huntington on 5th Avenue, according to local police.

The Huntington Police Department responded to a restaurant in the 2500 block of 5th Avenue after receiving a 911 call that an individual had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found a man with a gunshot wound to his right leg.

The victim told officers he was walking east on 5th Avenue near a car dealership when he heard loud gunshots and felt a pain in his leg.

According to investigators, the victim and his girlfriend both stated they did not see who shot him or the direction from which the shot was fired. The victim was uncooperative with investigators before arriving at St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment.

Investigators also were unable to locate the initial scene of the crime, a release said.
